December 9th is my birthday and this year I wanted to give back.
I’ve always had an issue with my period. I struggle with bloating, cramps, fatigue, and a very heavy flow. My periods last a full 7 days and each month never gets any easier. My mom always taught me to hide my pads when I use the restroom, not to tell anyone when I’m on my period, and always be careful not to leak through my pants. When I’m on my period I’m always worried about not carrying enough tampons or pads when I’m out and about in fear that I’ll leak.
With the inspiration from The #HappyPeriod organization and Always brand’s #EndPeriodPoverty campaign, I’m here to join the movement to end the stigma on period talk and to raise awareness on period poverty. I’m fundraising to raise $500 so I can purchase items to create menstrual hygiene kits for the Orange County Rescue Mission.
