My First Week of Hello Fresh

I tried out my first week of Hello Fresh a couple of weeks ago and decided I wanted to share my experience! I also just wanted to start off by saying that this post is not sponsored and I don’t have a promo code.

Creamiest Mushroom Ravioli

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Prepping this meal was incredibly easy! All I had to do was wash and dry the produce and slice the mushrooms, tomatoes, shallots and parsley. After that all I had to do was boil the ravioli for a few minutes and throw it all together in a pan.

This meal was one of the vegetarian dishes and I was not disappointed. The raviolis were stuffed with mushroom and ricotta cheese. You can honestly never go wrong with ravioli. The tomatoes gave the dish a nice acidity and I was actually surprised that I enjoyed the sour cream as the sauce because I’m normally not too big of a fan of sour cream. I give this a 5/5.

Heirloom Tomato Flatbread
Prep Time: 25 minutes

This was probably the easiest dish to make out of the three recipes I ordered. All I needed to do for this before I threw it in the oven was slice the mozzarella cheese and tomatoes. I spread the pesto evenly between the two flatbreads, threw on the tomatoes and mozzarella, and threw it in the oven. Once that was in the oven, I tossed the arugula in some olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette.

This was another one of their vegetarian dishes. I’m all for cooking easy meals, which is probably why I leaned more towards the vegetarian dishes than the dishes with meat. I would have liked for them to provide a little more pesto and a little less tomatoes, but the provided the perfect amount of mozzarella and arugula. With the amount of tomatoes on the pizza, it kind of overpowered the cheese and pesto taste, but the arugula gave the flatbread such a nice, peppery bite. I give this a 4.5/5.

Pork Carnitas Tacos
Prep Time: 30 minutes

There was a lot more preparation for this meal than the others. I had more ingredients to prepare (onions two ways, peppers, cilantro, tomatoes, lime). It wasn’t tedious, but it was just a couple of extra steps in comparison to the vegetarian dishes. I pickled half the onions while I was preparing the dish, cooked the rest of the onions and peppers, combined it with the meat, added the fajita seasoning, and then assembled the taco.

I was so surprised by the amount of flavor in this dish! What I loved is that they provided the perfect amount of seasoning so all I had to do was lightly salt everything. The serving size called for three tacos, but I plated two for myself and saved the rest for another meal because I knew I wouldn’t finish it all in one sitting. I give this a 5/5.
