2017 has finally arrived and I decided to kick off the new year with a weekend trip to Portland!
We spent 3 nights and 3 days in Portland and the weather wasn’t as cold as I expected it to be, thankfully. The weekend was filled with good food, beautiful views, and great vibes! Here are a few pictures from one of the most satisfying breakfast spots, Tasty N Sons:

Right: Shakshuka (baked eggs and tomato stew) with Merguez Sausage
I know what you’re thinking: What is there to see in Portland? Well besides all of the breweries, there were a couple of hidden must-see tourist spots. Since there’s usually a Japanese Garden in most cities I’ve visited, we decided to stop by the Lan Su Chinese Garden.
The little pond inside of the garden was completely frozen over and absolutely stunning! It got pretty cold exploring the garden outdoors for so long, so we went inside the shop and had some green tea samplers. There was a man playing the mandolin inside and I’ve never been in such a serene environment before. It was incredibly relaxing.

We got to stop by some other popular spots for food and sites! Did I mention we also got passes
to get into the Adidas Employee Store? Yep, that’s right! I wish I left more space in my suitcase when I came over to Portland because I did not expect to find so many things that I wanted to buy in the store.
Another one of my favorite stops was the one and only Multnomah Falls. It wasn’t snowing when we drove to the falls, but there was still snow there! It was actually my first time in snow ever, so it was a beautiful site. The waterfall was amazing and we even witnessed a proposal! (Which I found out to be my friend from California’s step sister’s proposal). What a small world, right?
It was a great trip and a short one at that, but a great way to start off the new year. Here’s a quick video to summarize my Portland trip:
