Van Sickle Bi-State Park | South Lake Tahoe, NV
Drove a few hours from San Ramon to South Lake Tahoe for the weekend and the weather was fantastic! It was chilly (averaging about 40F) but it wasn’t the right season for snow just yet. The main goal of the weekend was to find an easy trail to hike for a beautiful view of the lake.
Van Sickle Trail was rated moderately easy on Yelp, so up the trail we went! This was the first time in a long time that I’ve actually committed to a hike more than 2 miles, so believe me when I say that I needed to stop to catch my breath every ten minutes or so. The reason why we chose this trail was because the Yelp page had incredible pictures of a waterfall! Needless to say, the end of the hike was a little anticlimactic when we realized how small the waterfall actually was. But just look at this breathtaking view!
Not sure if South Lake Tahoe is where everyone else goes during the winter, but I have to admit that the city was a lot smaller than I had imagined it to be. Didn’t have a chance to explore the lake that weekend, but I do plan on returning to Lake Tahoe when it’s snowing some day!
