Book Review: Crossroads of Should and Must

It’s a short read, and probably something I’ll keep in my library forever. Elle Luna wrote and illustrated this book based off one of her blog posts that went viral.

“The Crossroads of Should and Must” is an inspirational book that tells us reasons why we should choose the things we mustdo rather than the things we should do. This book is an interactive self-help book that guides us through the steps of finding and following our passions.

It’s a great pep-talk for anyone that’s feeling unmotivated and uninspired. If you want to read the blog post that inspired it all, click here. I plan to read this once a month to remind myself to stay motivated to follow all of my passions.

Here are some quotes from each of the book I jotted down that had some significance to me:

Part I: THE CROSSROADS

“When we choose Should, we’re choosing to live our life for someone or something other than ourselves” (29).

Part II: THE ORIGIN OF SHOULD

“If you want to live the fullness of your life – if you want to be free – you must understand, first, why you are not free, what keeps you from being free” (45).

Part III: MUST

“If you’re not prioritizing the things you say you care about, consider the possibility that you don’t actually care about those things” (97).

Part IV: THE RETURN

“We each have unique potential that was given to us at birth, but whether or not we cultivate it is entirely up to us” (146).
